NHTSA Safety Seat Guidelines

• Rear-Facing
  • Back seat from birth to one year old and at least 20 pounds
• Forward Facing Toddler
  • Back seat from age 1 year and 20 pounds to about 4 years and 40 pounds
• Booster Seat
  • Back seat from age 4 to at least age 8, unless 4’9” tall
• Safety Belt
  • Age 8 and older or taller than 4’9”
  • Age 12 and younger should be in back seat
